About me

I'm Andoni Larzabal, Information Technology apprentice in the ENSEIRB-MATCMECA school in the beautiful city of Bordeaux in the South-West of France.

I'm working as an apprentice in the neighborhood of Paris La Défense, for the RTE (Réseau de Transport Electrique) company, which's main mission is to build, manage and exploit the french electricity transport network.

I first studied economics and social science in high-school and, since I was quite amazed by computers, I then decided to try studying computer science.

What motivates me most is that my work can help people and make their life better. I really am eager to make people's life brighter just by creating software with my own fingers.

For now my projects mainly involved web technologies such as PHP, Symfony and a bit of NodeJs, but I'm always willing to learn new things !

At the moment I'm particularly interested in React.js and Software Craftsmanship (reading The Pragmatic Programmer).

Artisan d'émotions

Handmade CMS back-end and front UI for a french wedding planner company

For this project, we had to set up a handmade website. One part was the handmade UI, the other one being the fully customizable content.

We decided to go with Symfony on this one and build our own mini CMS using Sonata Admin.

Flight reservation API

School project gone experimental

During our second year in the engineering school, a teacher introduced us to REST APIs and HTTP request/response system. After a short briefing, he told us we had a few months to build a REST API that allows any user to search and book flights. While he provided a C library to help us, we were free to use any language so we went for NodeJs in order to get some experience.

We used Express to be able to manage the routing more easily and to concentrate on the real business : the flights search and bookings. We had some tough times using NodeJs due to it being asynchronous and we weren't familiar with the Promise concept, but we still managed to build a (almost ?) bug free API !
